FAIR ISLE KNITTING

Fair Isle Knitting

I am delighted that my Fair Isle Knitting Book is in print once again. Much has changed in the world since I wrote the book twenty-two years ago. At that time the rich history and techniques of the art were little known; many mistakenly referred to any knitting containing more than one colour as "fair isle". My intention in writing the book was to present a thorough description of the history and techniques involved, and to present my own detailed design methods so that knitters around the world would have the opportunity to enjoy the art at whichever level they chose. The book can be used to knit a single swatch or garment, or as a complete detailed workshop in creative Fair Isle design. I am very pleased that during the fifteen years the original edition was in print, many thousands of knitters used the book with great success.

The desire for learning has not diminished over the years and, thanks to Dover, another generation of knitters now has the opportunity to explore and enjoy my book of Fair Isle Knitting.
